A kind-hearted nurse died after being hit by a car outside the hospital where he worked.
Father-of-one Wilbert Catalanllobrera was struck by a Vauxhall Astra just outside Wrexham Maelor Hospital last Thursday just before 8.30pm.
Emergency services desperately tried in vain to save the 46 -year-old after he was hit by a Vauxhall Astra.
But sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the incident.
A man has since appeared in court charged with several offences relating to the incident, the Daily Post reports.
People have been paying poignant tributes since the tragic death and hundreds have donated money to help support Wilbert’s family via a memorial fund on Gofundme.
In the space of just a few days, well over £14,000 has been raised in memory of the devoted family man.
Elinor Smith, one of the organisers of the fundraiser, paid a moving tribute to Mr Catalanllobrera on the page.
She said: “Our kind and caring Wilbert sadly passed away.
“He was a devoted husband and proud dad to his daughter, who has been left devastated by his passing.
“During these already difficult times with the family’s permission, I have set up this go fund me page to help the family. This money will be given to the family to use in whichever way they feel they would like to use it.
“Wilbert was always full of life and so caring to his family, friends, colleagues and patients. He will be sadly missed by all.”
Alongside donations, friends have also posted emotional tributes to “marvellous” Mr Catalanllobrera.
One wrote: “Such a tragic and sad loss of a wonderful colleague. Wilbert was excellent in theatre. My deepest condolences to his wife, daughter and the Maelor family.”
Another colleague wrote: “Will was a much-loved part of our theatre family, he was always kind, caring and nothing was too much trouble. Sending all my love to his beloved family and friends. We will miss him and his lovely smile”
One moving message read: “RIP Wilbert, one of our own passed too soon. My sincere condolences to your family and friends. The wonderful impact and the difference you made through being a marvellous gentleman and nurse will be remembered with love and fondness.”
Another colleague wrote: “I will miss you in TH4 (theatre) with your cheeky laugh and banter, a true gent with a heart of gold a pleasure to have worked alongside you, theatre was ever so quiet today sleep well up there and shine bright”
One person simply described Mr Catalanllobrera as a “hero of the health service.”
Thanking donors for their kind gestures, Mr Catalanllobrera’s wife Fe wrote: “Thank you for your love and support to Wilbert and to our family
“I can’t thank everyone enough for their kindness and generosity, all the lovely and kind words to Wilbert.
“May God bless you and everyone in return.”
A 32 year-old man from the Wrexham area has been charged following the incident relating to Mr Catalanllobrera’s death.
He appeared in court on Saturday to answer charges of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, causing death whilst disqualified and driving whilst over the prescribed limit.
He is due back in court at a later date.
